UPDATE!

I just need to say that I finished the last 7 episodes of friday night lights first season on saturday (22 episodes in 6 days)... I think I may have set the record.

Side notes: I went to what I believe was my first convert baptism on Saturday - it was awesome; LSU is lucky, very lucky; Ohio State is not that good for a #1 team; Fresno State is slowly but surely getting better at football but I won't get too excited because I am prepared to be disappointed as I watch them on ESPN this Friday night against Boise State.

here's my favorite song right now:

Google me

The other day one of my colleagues was speaking with a customer about a problem to which there seemed to be no possible agreement. This person was becoming frustrated because we weren’t giving into his/her demands and in an effort to show us how big and important he/she is, this customer told my colleague to google his/her name. A few minutes later he/she asked if my colleague had googled his/her name yet. To which my colleague responded, yes and a picture of a horse’s rear end came up. Ok, so the last part isn’t true, but the rest of it was. I didn’t know this until now, but apparently if you can be googled you are very important and everyone should give you what you want. People these days!! To prove how important I am, I’m going to talk in the third person for the rest of this entry.

Jeff got to drive a company car home from work the other day. Jeff thoroughly enjoyed it and wished that Jeff could’ve kept it for a few more days. Jeff is so awesome and has a great job.

Ok, scratch that, I’m already sick of it. This has been a pretty good week. I’ve been very productive, besides going to FHE on Monday, institute on Tuesday, and basketball on Wednesday, I’ve also worked out every day this week and squeezed in the first 15 episodes of the first season of Friday Night Lights… ok, so maybe it wasn’t that productive.

Perks of Work

Everyone at work was offered two free tickets to go to the Petit Le Mans Race on Saturday (October 6) at Road Atlanta. It's a 1,000 mile race or 10 hours whichever comes first. I ended up just using one ticket and going with my friends Jason (also a co-worker) and Austin, who was able to fly out from Sacramento to go with us. I had never been to a race and really didn't understand how someone can just watch cars going around a track.

It was awesome. The track is 2.54 mile road course (not an oval) with 12 turns and these cars were doing a lap in just under 70 seconds. What is also pretty cool is that there are four different competition classes racing at the same time. You can read more about it the different classes at: http://americanlemans.com/assets/pdfs/classesofcompetition.pdf .

During the race we were able to go right behind the pits and see the crews up close at work. There were also plenty of things to do besides watch the race. Many of the manufacturers sponsored hospitality tents and had their own areas to display cars. There was a ton of Ferraris, Porsches, Audis, Corvettes, Lotus' and others. We spent a lot of time looking at different cars and also exploring the 750 acres, trying to find the best spots to watch the race from. We were also lucky enough to have a few hours in the Porsche tent where we ate free food and drinks, and even listened to the designer of the Porsche RS Spyder racing team (who took a break from the Pits to go to the tent), he discussed strategy and how the cars were doing so far (this was about halfway through the race). I thought that was pretty neat.

I didn't ever imagine having as much fun at a car race as I ended up having. The fact that I got a gorgeous model's telephone number was just icing on the cake.

This is a link to video that my friend jason shot with the cars at full speed going around a corner: http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=19705419

Welcome to Atlanta

Since I moved all the way across the country, I decided to create a blog so that the few people that are interested in my life can know what’s going on in my life, now that I’m in the derrrrrty south. I’ll try to keep it updated and maybe even put pictures up too. I’ll even share some stories from work (but I can’t go into too many details).

First story… I wasn’t aware of this but apparently $5,000 isn’t enough money to take 5 people out to dinner. We offered a man this money as a nice gesture to make him happier, but he didn’t think it was enough. I called him to find out what we could do to satisfy him. He told me that the offer was an insult and that he couldn’t even take 4 friends out to dinner with that much – not only did he say this but he expected me to agree with this. He wanted ten grand. The kicker is that this offer was actually very generous considering he was so far out of normal considerations.

Anyway, I’ll try to share more.
